Public look-up stations are available in some of the Penn Libraries . From these stations, the public can access the library's catalogs and the Internet. Most electronic resources, such as subscription databases and electronic journals, and the Penn Wireless Network are restricted to current Penn students, faculty and staff and require PennKey authentication.
For additional information regarding public use of the library's computers, please see the Policy on use of library public workstations.

Franklin Catalog

Franklin is the online catalog of the University of Pennsylvania Libraries. It includes the holdings of all of the Penn Libraries, excluding the Biddle Law Library. The Law Library maintains its own catalog, LOLA.
When searching Franklin, note the location, call number, and status of the item in which you are interested. The location indicates the library in which the item is held and the call number refers to a specific shelving location within that library.
Storage Requests: Within the Franklin catalog, the location Storage indicates that an item is held in our LIBRA facility. Visitors may request delivery of storage items to Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center by completing either a Book storage request form or an Article storage request form. Allow 2 business days for delivery (you will be notified by email when the item is available for pickup). Storage materials are held at the Information Desk, just inside the entrance of the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center.

Borrowing Materials

Visitors who are interested in borrowing books may apply for courtesy borrowing privileges for a fee. The Library Courtesy Card carries with it borrowing privileges in all libraries except the Biddle Law Library. Due to licensing agreements, the purchase of a courtesy borrowing card does not include access to electronic resources such as subscription article indexes and e-journals.

Printing and Photocopying

Public self-service printers and photocopiers are available in all libraries. The cost of photocopying is $0.10 per page when using cash or $0.08 per page when using the PennCash System. Printing must be paid for using the PennCash System. Visitors may purchase a special Visitor PennCash Card to which they may add cash value. The cost of a Visitor Card with no value on it is $1.00 .
