| Alban was born and raised in Japan, and his research interests reflect his close ties to home. Alban's subject expertise includes Japanese literature (1869-1970) and Japanese history (1600-1945). He teaches a graduate course titled "Japanese Bibliography and Problems of Research," offered by Penn's department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, and he has published papers on academic library and bibliographical pedagogy. He received his MS in Information Science from Drexel University. |
