InfoTech Trends - Database Search Aid

InfoTech Trends contains market data on computers, peripherals, software, the Internet and communications equipment. Details include sales and shipment forecasts, market share and planned purchases.

Search Strategies

There are four ways to search. Use one method at a time to search or use a combination.

1. Choose the quarters to be searched (The more quarters that are selected the more results retrieved.)

2. Enter search terms. (InfoTech Trends provides a listing of commonly used words in the database. Choose one of these terms or enter your own terms.)

Search Examples

First, choose quarters to be searched.

Sample Search 1: Enter in the with all of the words field:   market share handheld

Sample Search 2: Enter in the with any of the words field:   Internet
      Then enter in with all of the words field:   commerce

Sample Search 3: Enter in the with the exact phrase field:   Internet users

Output/Saving Your Research

These searches will return a list of reports. Click on the report that you are interested in viewing in full. Once the report is opened, the data can be downloaded to Microsoft Excel by clicking on the Download link at the bottom of the report.

Note: Multiple reports can be checked and opened together and then saved as one text file. To save reports in .csv format, each must be saved separately.
