Museum Library - Reference Services

Reference assistance is provided by the staff of the Museum Library. They can help you find materials in the collection, get started on a research paper, navigate the Internet, or choose the most relevant electronic file. They also will explain complementary collections in other Penn Libraries. They are usually available Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. They can be reached by phone (215) 898-4021 or email (muselib@pobox.upenn.edu).

John M. Weeks, Ph.D., Museum Librarian, is the author of Introduction to Library Research in Anthropology (2 ed., Westview Press, Boulder, CO, 1998). He also has expertise in the archaeology and ethnohistory of southern Mesoamerica and the Caribbean. He can be reached by phone (215) 898-4021 or via email (weeksj@pobox.upenn.edu).

Anita Fahringer, Bibliographic Specialist, has special expertise in Mesoamerican archaeology, Maya archaeology, and hieroglyphic inscriptions. She can be reached by phone (215) 898-1024 or via email (afahr@pobox.upenn.edu).

Some reference services are now available via electronic forms. For example, you can ask a reference question right from your desk top. Penn faculty, students, and staff may schedule an appointment for a research consultation. Penn faculty may arrange for course-related library instruction sessions which are customized to meet the needs of their students. To use these services, just choose one of the electronic forms listed here:
