Penn Bookmarks

The Penn Libraries have prepared a bookmark folder that provides quick access to Penn sites and Penn Libraries pages and resources. Note: Original September 2009 version has been updated to fix broken links. (20 Jan. 2010)

Directions for Firefox:

  1. Save pennbookmarks- content.html to your desktop (right click on the link and select "save link as...").
  2. In Firefox, go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks
  3. Click on "Import and Backup " and choose "Import HTML "
  4. Make sure the "From an HTML File " radio button is selected, then click "Next "
  5. Browse to desktop > pennbookmarks-content.html, click on it once, then click "Open "
  6. The Penn Toolbar URLs have been added to you bookmarks.
If you wish to add the Penn Bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar that runs across the top of your browser: In the Organize Bookmarks dialog box you opened earlier
  1. Expand the "Bookmarks Menu" folder until you see the "Penn Bookmarks" folder.
  2. Drag the "Penn Bookmarks " folder up and drop it into your "Bookmarks Toolbar " folder.

Directions for Internet Explorer:

  1. Save pennbookmarks- content.html to your desktop.
  2. In IE, go to File > Import and Export
  3. The Import and Export Wizard will start. Click on "Next "
  4. On the Import/Export Selection page choose "Important Favorites" and click "Next."
  5. In the "Import from a File or Address" box, browse to pennbookmarks-content.html, click on it once, then click "Open " and "Next."
  6. Select the Folder where you would like to import the bookmarks. Your Favorites folder is a good choice. The "Penn Bookmarks" folder has been added to your bookmarks. If you wish to add this folder to the Bookmarks Toolbar that runs across the top of your browser, just drag and drop the "Penn Bookmarks " folder into your Bookmarks Toolbar.
At this point, you can customize the links by adding new links, or deleting or renaming existing bookmarks.
